How I’m Reset My Health This Summer & How You Can Too

If you’ve been following me on Instagram lately, you’ll know that I started an online home workout challenge on my wellness space Sculpted by Marcella featuring my favourite classes from Pilates to Barre to Yoga. I knew I needed to make the most of this programme as I’ve been feeling my usual habits slide and how I felt was being impacted because of this.

I was bloated, tired, getting rashes come up out of nowhere and even my skin looked a little dull.

I knew something had to change. Well, we’re already 3 weeks in to Summer Sculpt and my lifestyle overhaul and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in not only my energy, but how I feel in myself and a shift in how bloated I am.

Here’s the thing, I could have easily let old patterns creep in and go on a crash diet eating just 1200 calories a day (or something just as silly) and followed a crazy workout schedule, but I know better than that.

❌Short fixes just do not last❌

And I'm looking at something that is maintainable for the long haul. So here are the things I am currently doing that are working for me and are actually enjoyable and easy to follow:

1. Wholefoods, mindful eating and dropping the ‘perfect diet’

If you know me, you know I’m not here for extremes.

So for these last three weeks, I’ve brought myself back to basics, eating out less and opting for wholefoods, simple meals, eating when I’m genuinely hungry and stopping when I feel satisfied.

I’m following what I call my 90/10 rule: 90% whole, nourishing foods such as veggies, lean protein, good fats, fibre-rich carbs and 10% room for real life. A margherita with the girls or an ice cream on a sunny walk for example. it’s all part of living.

I’m not calorie counting or obsessing over macros. Instead, I’m gently tweaking portion sizes, eating a little less than I have been, but enough to feel strong and fuelled.

The biggest shift? I’m listening again. Actually listening to when I’m hungry, when I’m full, when my body’s asking for more greens, or a warm comforting meal, or just a bit of chocolate on the sofa.

When I do this, bloating naturally settles down. Cravings feel calmer. And my mind stops swinging between “super strict” and “all the snacks”. If you’re in the same boat, I promise mindful eating works wonders.

2. More fibre, more protein, less stress

If you’re working on your gut health or struggling with bloating (like I was!), increasing your fibre and protein is a game changer.

For me, this has meant a few simple swaps:

  • Adding a handful of greens, berries or beans to every lunch and dinner.

  • Swapping sugary snacks for something with both protein and fibre, think Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds, boiled eggs, or a protein smoothie.

  • Making sure breakfast sets me up right, overnight oats, eggs on sourdough, or a protein-packed smoothie bowl.

These tiny tweaks keep me full for longer, steady my energy, and keep my digestion happier. If you’re used to grabbing a croissant on the go (no shame, I’ve been there too), just see what happens when you swap one snack a day for something protein-rich and fibrous. It’s an easy win.

3. My 5-workout-a-week Summer Sculpt plan

This is the big one, moving my body in ways I genuinely look forward to.

I’m three weeks into my Summer Sculpt online workout plan and honestly, I feel like myself again. I’m doing five short workouts each week, mixing Pilates, Barre and Yoga. Every session is 15–25 minutes long which means I can squeeze them in easy enough and stay consistent with them.

And here’s the thing: I built this plan for you, too. If you’re already a member, you’ll know how powerful these short workouts can be when they’re consistent. If you’re not yet in, maybe this is your sign. There’s still time to jump in, catch up and finish strong with us this summer.

I wanted to remind myself that feeling sculpted and energised doesn’t mean spending hours in the gym or forcing myself through workouts I hate. It’s about consistency, little bits that add up.

4. Daily steps in the sunshine

I know, I know everyone says “get your steps in”. But hear me out.

Walking more has genuinely changed how I feel. Not just physically, but mentally too. I’ve been aiming for 10,000 steps a day and hitting closer to 14,000 most days, partly because the weather’s been so good, and partly because I feel so much calmer after a walk. On the days I can’t get outside I opt for a treadmill and try to add in a 10 minute walk after each meal (time permitting) which really helps with digestion too!

If you’re looking for one daily habit that’s free and genuinely makes a difference then this is it.

5. No more ‘all or nothing’ - just better than before

This is the real lesson. I’m not trying to be perfect. I’m not even aiming for all the boxes ticked every single day.

I keep going. I adapt. I make the next meal nourishing, the next walk intentional, the next workout count.

Slow, consistent progress beats burning out every single time. And being kind to yourself is the secret sauce that makes it stick.
